Reg Coutts, Senior Associate

Reg CouttsReg Coutts is Professor Emeritus at the University of Adelaide and Director of Technology Strategy, m.Net Corporation and is Associate Expert in Telecommunications with the Institute of International Business, Economics and Law.

Professor Coutts joined the University in mid 1993 after spending 17 developmental years with Telstra including 5 years as Manager of Strategy and Business Development of the Mobiles Business unit. Dr. Coutts was involved in the early development of the standards for Third Generation “3G”Mobile Technologies.

Prior to this role, Dr Coutts was undertaking applied research at Telstra's Research Laboratories for twelve years and it was here in the mid 1980's his research group turned their focus to the new emerging digital mobile technologies.

Examples of his experience include:

  • consultancy to industry players on potential markets for 3G services as a basis for valuing spectrum acquisition
  • research into prospective users of new Internet enabled mobile devices and services conducted over two years with the Smart Internet Technology Cooperative Research Centre
  • establishing m.Net corporation to provide an advanced mobile test platform and precinct for the incubation of mobile Internet application developers.
