  • A market research study to determine demand by Australian telecommunications operators for intelligent network (IN) software - for an Australian telecommunications vendor. After conducting a primary market research study with industry participants, TeleResources established key trends in the market, projected market penetration of different products and specified products and product features in demand.

  • A study on the microwave link market in Australia and an assessment of the likely demand over the next 5 years - for an equipment vendor. TeleResources assessed the current Fixed Microwave Service (FMS) from 1.5 to 50 GHz operated by licensed and non-licensed carriers, in terms of the segments of FMS applications, the operators and by the links usage by each operator in each frequency band. TeleResources benchmarked this against its analysis of the future drivers and inhibitors of future demand for FMS and competitive dynamics in various segments to develop a demand model for FMS equipment requirements in the next 5 years.

  • Developed a product marketing strategy for its customer access products - for a major international telecommunications vendor . The report included a projection of the likely future needs of telecommunications carriers, service providers and end-users and addressed various issues including market sizing by products, market share available, competitive information on products and pricing, possible strategic partnerships and key success factors and barriers.

  • Identified and ranked potential investments / partnerships in telecommunications undersea cable infrastructure projects in the Asian market – for a global consulting firm. TeleResources identified investment opportunities for undersea cable infrastructures by reviewing and ranking key selection criteria, viz., key revenue streams, anticipated subscribers, likely traffic and likely competitors. Each potential investment was weighted according to which country it was in.

  • Prepared a report on market and business development opportunities in Asia Pacific - for a USA wireless infrastructure equipment vendor. TeleResources ranked specific countries and carriers on the basis of their accessibility and potential need for the client’s products. To rank the carrier opportunities, TeleResources analysed the carrier’s subscriber base, estimated its revenue, network standards and deployments, outlined the market prospects and demand projections for 2001 and applied a country weighting factor. TeleResources specified the opportunity associated with each carrier and which local wireless vendors the client should partner with, including relevant contacts.

  • Advised on the viability of introducing an international satellite communications business in 9 countries in Asia Pacific and on market entry strategies – for an international operator. TeleResources investigated the regulatory environment and forecast market demand for low rate data services using Little LEO satellites over a 12-year horizon within identified target markets in Asia Pacific. TeleResources also assessed the existing GEO satellite systems and estimated traffic growth in the region on selected routes.

  • A market study into the development of frame relay and ATM markets in Asia Pacific and emerging networking technologies - for an international networking equipment vendor.

  • A market research study to determine market demand for Wireless Local Loop in Asia Pacific - for a major Asian telecommunications carrier.

Consumer Studies
  • A multi-client research study into the consumer and business markets for digital cordless telephony in Australia. The aims were to identify its market potential in all relevant segments and the main user sectors, gain a good understanding of important issues to users, dimension the segments and suggest strategies for rolling out cordless phone products. It involved 500 telephone surveys of consumer and business users and 30 face-to-face interviews with executives from key industry sectors.

  • A market survey to estimate the expected uptake for voice recognition system in the finance sector. This involved over 2,000 interviews as well as focus groups.

  • A satisfaction study - A national study of more than 2,000 interviews & focus groups with the general public, the medical profession and pharmacists on satisfaction with the Medicare program.

  • A radio listening habit study for a major FM radio station. The study recommended changes to the format and on-air promotional activity which led to a significant improvement in ratings.

  • A study to identify the needs of medium density housing residents conducted for a local council.

  • A study to test competitive brands of shampoo over a six week trial of home use. This involved the sample placement and gathering of basic usage data amongst a specific target audience, followed by 2-weekly telephone call backs to gain evaluations of the product over time - This technique was used to measure the long term effects and acceptance of each product, as well as overcoming the initial novelty effects which can take place in product testing.

  • Taste testing of premium beers. This involved a "round robin" series of taste tests with the target market to determine the hierarchy of preferences and perceived differences in the products.

  • A market study, along with quantitative concept testing, to identify the most effective strategies for encouraging school leavers to join the Royal Australian Navy. This involved the identification of various attitudinal groups and the motivations, which would encourage them to join the various sections of the Navy.
