Telecom has shortlist for Gattung replacement

Without giving anything more away, Telecom has assured shareholders that a shortlist has been formed from which to appoint the new CEO once Theresa Gattung steps down at the end of June. Industry insiders have the shortest odds on current CFO Marko Bogoievski.

Termination rates deal dismays Telecommunications Users Association

The decision by the government to uphold agreements with Telecom and Vodafone to lower termination rates has been met with disappointment from industry bodies and other telcos who had backed government regulation to do the job.

The government has accepted Telecom and Vodafone's proposals to reduce calls made from landlines to mobiles from 20 cents per minute (cpm) to 12 cpm and 20 cpm to 14 cpm respectively providing the telcos sign legally enforceable deeds to avoid industry regulation.

Vodafone pushes wholesale beyond TelstraClear

Despite terminating the agreement with TelstraClear that resold more than 30,000 connections to its network, Vodafone is committed to wholeselling capacity on its wireless network to smaller companies with Orcon, Compass Communications and Australian-owned telco M2 among the first to take up the wholesale service this year.
