Telstra almost triples 3G market share with NextG

Speaking at a capital markets day in Stockholm hosted by one of Telstra's suppliers, Sweden's Ericsson, CEO Sol Trujillo confirmed that the nationwide deployment of its NextG network had grown its 3G market share from 15 to 40 percent after a period of losing customers to competition late last year.
Australian telecom infrastructure poor by world standards

According to the World Competitiveness Scoreboard for 2007 released in Switzerland, Australia's overall ranking slipped from sixth to 12th on the listing of 55 nations with a sub-ranking of 21 for telecommunications infrastructure and 26 for mobile telephony costs.

Telstra and News Ltd hope to reach an out of court settlement now that the National Rugby League has begun legal proceedings in the Supreme Court for payment of the first instalment of its six-year, $90 million sponsorship contract, which is being withheld by Telstra because of News Ltd using extensive NRL footage on its websites.

The former managing director of BellSouth NZ, Keith Davis, is suing Vodafone and BNZ in the High Court for breaching a confidentiality agreement and using his ideas to create the HotLink m-commerce system in partnership with BNZ which enables customers to top up their pre-pay accounts or pay their mobile bill from their bank account using their mobile phone.
