EB Propsim C8 multi-channel emulator is designed to fulfill the performance demands of MIMO system testing from WCDMA to Wi-Fi and WiMAX. Research organizations and development teams utilize the uncompromised performance of the EB Propsim C8 for their air interface test requirements.

MIMO channel emulation

The powerful fading emulation capabilities of the EB Propsim C8 allow verification and testing of MIMO designs, whether those are for mobile WiMAX, 3GPP LTE, 802.11n, TD-SCDMA or a proprietary wireless communication system. EB Propsim C8 with seamless frequency coverage up to 6 GHz allows testing of all current MIMO applications.

Flexible channel modelling tools of the EB Propsim C8 permit MIMO channel modelling in various forms with highest accuracy. Embedded tools allow modeling of DoD/DoA, complex correlation and 802.11n channels. EB Propsim C8 with file-based emulation approach enables the modeling of 3GPP SCM and its extension models or WINNER models.

The EB Propsim C8 is truly a single-box MIMO test solution. The 16 fading channels allow complex scenarios (4x4, 4x2, 8x2 etc.) without the use of external RF combiners and splitters. The internal signal combining and splitting together with single clock and control for all fading channels assures highest MIMO channel fidelity in the market.

The current networks are highly complex systems with multiple users utilizing different technologies such as GSM, WCDMA, CDMA2000 and mobile WiMAX. In these networks interference is the key factor degrading network performance. Testing and benchmarking different wireless devices in this environment traditionally requires time consuming field testing in non-repeatable air interface environment.

Virtual drive test solution build around EB Propsim C8 provides 100% repeatable field environment in laboratory. The EB Propsim C8 allow testing of intra-cell, intra-system and inter-system handovers, for example from one UMTS antenna cell to another and from GSM to WLAN or mobile WiMAX. The EB Propsim C8 can emulate up to 4 full duplex radio channel links simultaniously. Each up- and downlink channel can have unique multipath fading profiles with interference, fast fading and shadowing. Shadowing can be programmed to EB Propsim C8 exactly according to the drive test measurements in the field. The virtual test environment created with EB Propsim C8 is very close to reality not only because of fast fading and shadowing but also because of wide range of integrated interferences.

Testing and benchmarking wireless devices with EB Propsim C8 allows the execution of tests faster and introduction of new products earlier to the market.
