New Wi-Fi Modelling and Traffic Offloading Features in Atoll
3 May 2012 - Forsk announces that the new version 3.1.2 of Atoll includes full support for Wi-Fi and mobile traffic offloading to Wi-Fi.
Atoll’s new Wi-Fi features are part of the Atoll WiMAX/BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) module, which now provides comprehensive Wi-Fi network modelling with coverage and capacity planning as well as multi-technology traffic modelling and analysis (e.g., 3G <->Wi-Fi, LTE <->Wi-Fi). Atoll 3.1.2 incorporates new “traffic offloading” features that allow operators to assess scenarios of mobile traffic offloading to Wi-Fi.
Atoll 3.1.2 enables operators to design and optimise integrated mobile and Wi-Fi networks, and to fully analyse traffic balancing and offloading between technology layers.
These new features enrich the existing multi-layer and small cell modelling capabilities of Atoll, providing operators with the means to evaluate various strategies for enhancing network capacity, such as Wi-Fi offloading and LTE HetNets.
